Vice Principal, Head of Care - Adam Phillips

Farleigh College provides residential care through its five living
units (please see 'Accommodation'). We aim to provide all our pupils with the highest standards of care in a safe, predictable
and stimulating environment.

We aim to understand the individual needs of our pupils and ensure their non-class time is enjoyable, offering every pupil opportunities to develop new skills and face new challenges.

In providing a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), we recognise the importance of setting individual, achieveable goals to enable them to progress in all aspects of their lives. The Independence Programme and the role of Tutors enable these to be discussed openly with pupils and new targets set that enable them to progress.

At Farleigh College, we know that pupils with ASD need structured support for the development of their communication skills, social interaction, imagination and thinking flexibly, as well as organisation, planning and problem solving skills.

Within our waking curriculum, our pupils are provided with individualised goals that are matched to their existing needs. With their own efforts and the support and guidance of staff, they are able to achieve positively during their time with us.

The school receives regular ‘welfare inspections,’ which we welcome as part of continually improving the quality of care we provide. Please feel free to peruse our latest Inspection reports here.

Farleigh College produces detailed assessments of our pupils at the admission stage and throughout their time at the school. These reports are based upon the 5 key underlying principles of ‘Every Child Matters,’ which are :-

  • Being Healthy
  • Staying Safe
  • Enjoying and Achieving
  • Economic well-being and
  • Making a positive contribution
