________________________________________________ Farleigh College
is set in 5 acres of beautiful Somerset countryside. The main building, a grade 2-listed Queen Anne house, accommodates most of the residential units, kitchen and dining room and administrative offices. The majority of the educational facilities are located within the grounds. We are in a prime location being only 12 miles from Bath and we are 80 minutes by train from London, Paddington. Farleigh College is fully approved by the DfES as a residential special school for pupils with Asperger’s syndrome. These pupils often have many strengths and considerable potential but their progress is typically greatly impaired by the difficulties experienced by young people with Asperger’s Syndrome. These involve difficulties in some or all of the following areas: · Anxiety levels · Social behaviour · Appropriate use and understanding of language · Obsessive behaviour and interests · Sensory sensitivity · Motor co-ordination At Farleigh College we offer a total environment where young people are offered a safe, secure and predictable environment in which they come to understand their own areas of difficulties and learn skills and techniques in order to overcome them. This ensures that they are able to fulfil their potential socially, academically, physically and spiritually and enable them to rebuild their often shattered self-esteem and self belief. The school is residential but within that provision provides termly or weekly boarding, as well as placements for day, full or part time pupils whilst supporting re-integration packages back into mainstream education. Farleigh College has recently achieved the Investors in People Award. Farleigh College has a staffing team of about 80 people to fully cater for up to 48 pupils, both residential and day students, between the ages of 10 and 17. |
