Pastoral System

New pupils at Farleigh College are allocated a pastoral tutor, an adult from amongst the care or teaching staff whose primary task is to ensure the happiness and well being of individuals in their care.  They assist the class teacher and consultant psychologist in drawing up the Individual Education Plan (IEP), which highlights strengths and weaknesses, and sets realistic targets for the term’s work.

The tutor will meet informally with their tutees on a daily basis and formally on a weekly basis to discuss and review weekly targets.  One of the aims of the tutor is to encourage pupils to approach situations with increased confidence and an open mind concerning aspects of their performance that still need improvement.

All pupils, particularly those in year 10 and 11, are encouraged to aim for, and to undertake an increasing degree of independence.
