Vocational Education

Co-ordinator - Josh Clark

All our KS4 pupils have the opportunity to experience employment through ‘work experience’ placements. This usually takes place for all Yr 10 pupils for a one-week block towards the end of the summer term.

Pupils in Year 11 can also continue with their vocational education for an afternoon or a day a week in year 11 if the placement is particularly appropriate and relevant to their individual needs and their choice of vocation.

Vocational placements can range from working in an IT department to helping out at a farm.  Others arranged include a day nursery, a record shop, a riding stables, a pet shop and in a garage.

Our pupils always find this a very worthwhile and rewarding experience and, whether supported by our staff or not, gain a relevant and necessary insight into a work place of their choice and the ‘world of work’.
